The Saddle Bag
The Saddle Bag
Part of the Artisans in Residence collection.
How she made it:
The Saddle Bag is where Marina's background as a painter meets her practice as a leather artisan. She starts with a structured silhouette in white crocodile-embossed leather, then hand-paints an intricate mixed-media composition directly onto the front panel. The illustration layers motifs, color, and dimensional detailing into a piece that is part handbag, part artwork. No two will ever look alike. She builds and finishes each bag by hand, one stitch at a time, in her California studio.
Technique:
Entirely handcrafted and hand-painted, one stitch at a time.
Size:
6 in W × 8 in H

What Students & Alums Are Saying
Studying here has been an extraordinary experience. Beatrice Amblard teaches leatherworking with the same discipline, precision, and excellence she honed during her years at Hermès. The progressive curriculum is demanding and incredibly rewarding. I'm currently in Level 3 and feel privileged to be learning how the finest bags in the world are truly made.
Bea and Amelie have created a beautifully designed studio and a thoughtful approach to teaching leathercraft. I love coming here and appreciate the care that goes into how the studio and classes are run.
